South West Leadership Recognition Awards 2016

Yesterday evening, Friday 11th November, we were at the Bristol Pavilion hosting our NHS South West Leadership Recognition Awards 2016 – it was an inspirational and hugely emotive evening hosted by Christina Quinn, Director NHS South West Leadership Academy and Ann James, Chair NHS South West Leadership Academy with a very special guest speaker Tommy Whitelaw; a fulltime carer for his late mum, Joan, who had vascular dementia and who is now working on The Dementia Carers Voices project with the Health and Social Care Alliance. 

We were surrounded by many inspirational people, special nominees and their colleagues – all there to be recognised for their fantastic achievements and a commitment to patients, service users and true health and social care values.

We are now delighted and extremely proud to announce our 2016 winners:

Leadership for Service Improvement & Innovation Award – announced by Stephen Batty, Director of Professional & Executive Development at the University of the West of England, Bristol. This award goes to an exemplar in leading a service improvement or innovation, which has seen a positive, sustainable change and impact on the outcomes for staff, patients, service users, citizens, their families.

Leading & Developing People Award – announced by Andy Hardy, National Officer Wales & South West England Region at MiP health. This award recognises those who lead and empower people to stretch themselves; shares their knowledge or opportunities for learning; helps to develop staff – someone who truly believes in the potential in us all.

This Inspirational Leader award recognises an individual or team who inspire others to achieve great things. They place quality at the heart of everything they do; they are innovative and value their partners while actively mentoring the next generation of NHS leaders.

Leading Systems Transformation – announced by Rob Sheffield, Director of Bluegreen Learning. The Leading Systems Transformation award recognises an individual or team who has demonstrated essential qualities of leading change across systems and demonstrating effective systems leadership skills.

Team Outstanding Achievement (Non Clinical) – announced by Dr Matthew Dolman, Chair of Somerset CCG and an NHS South West Leadership Academy Board member. This Outstanding Achievement award is awarded to a non-clinical team who demonstrate a commitment to deliver excellence with others that has resulted in non-clinical improvements to Health and Social Care services.

This Outstanding Achievement award is awarded to a clinical team who demonstrate a commitment to deliver excellence with others that has resulted in clinical improvements to Health and Social Care services.

Excellence in Patient Experience Award– announced by Tommy Whitelaw our special guest speaker tonight and Project Engagement Lead for Dementia Carer Voices. The Excellence in Patient Experience award is given to an individual or team who has made a noticeable impact on the way the organisation engages with patients.

This Emerging Leader award celebrates those who are early in their leadership management journey and who have positive energy for leadership and their passion spills over into the working environment. They have an authentic commitment to developing themselves and others for the benefit of patient care.
