Having an address enabled her to join the fire service at the age of eighteen and her path to security, self-improvement, and success was set. Working as a firefighter, simultaneously she studied for a PhD in Psychology at the Open University and later at Cardiff University .
Sabrina is now an Honorary Fellow at Cardiff and is one of the most senior female firefighters in the UK. She has won awards for her research work on incident command structure in the emergency services, receiving recognition and influencing policy internationally. As an acknowledgement of the lifeline out of homelessness provided by The Big Issue she now serves as an an ambassador for the project.
