A partnership between NHS South West Leadership Academy and the Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.
Offered by the Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry (PU PSMD), this Post Graduate Certificate stands alone but is a core part of a newly-launched Masters programme.
We have responded to a need for skills enhancement in areas of management, leadership and innovation in health in the South West. This Post Graduate Certificate offers a flexible and relevant entry to management and leadership in a health and care setting, whether your interests lie in leadership, management techniques, quality improvement, organisation development, patient safety or improvement. It is especially suitable for new and aspiring clinical leaders and offer’s understanding and exploration of the health and care landscape, including how commissioners and providers perform and interact, and which skills are required to help them.
In the Foundation module of the Post Graduate Certificate, participants will focus on models of leadership, financial management, quality improvement and the leadership of patient safety. Each day will be punctuated by a ‘book club’, designed to introduce participants to key elements of the literature and stimulate their critical reading.
In the Organisation Development module, participants will work to understand organisational structures, how design influences leadership, the culture of organisations and the place of individual values in shaping them.
