Mentoring Register

At the South West leadership Academy, we work to develop compassionate leaders and the conditions for inclusive, future-focused leadership. One of our commitments to support this development is the provision of our Coaching and Mentoring Registers.

Our bespoke online platform has been designed to facilitate the matching of mentors and mentees and provide an easier and more effective way of managing the mentoring relationship.

Registering as a Mentor

There are no specific requirements to join the South West Leadership Academy Regional Mentoring Register, other than you practice ethically within your area of expertise.

As a mentor you will support the development of your mentee through the use of questioning, listening, observation and feedback.

You will support your mentee to set goals at the start of your mentoring relationship that can be reviewed regularly to ensure focus during your meetings.

In return the NHS SWLA will provide access to regular CPD, group supervision sessions and network learning events. Please click here to view the CPD page.

If you are interested in joining the register, please complete your profile using the link below:

Once your registration has been approved, you’ll be able to access all areas of the Coachnet platform. The resources tab will provide you with a “User Guide” which will outline how to use the system and manage your mentoring relationship, making use of the functionality to upload documents along with completing and evaluating your mentoring relationships.

Registering as a Mentee

  • Mentoring is about getting support for your own learning and development wherever you are in your career.
  • Mentoring will create a greater self-awareness of your unique talents and also identify some gaps in your current skills set.
  • Mentoring will provide you with the space for reflection where you will learn what works best for you now and in the future.
  • Mentoring can provide suggestions that can widen your horizons and narrow your actions.
  • It doesn’t matter what you do or where you’re from, having a mentor can facilitate new ways of working by broadening your horizons through sharing experiences.

A mentor can support you by:

  • Sharing their experiences
  • Providing an ongoing relationship that can last for a longer period of time than coaching
  • Providing you with space and time to think
  • Offering guidance and / or support
  • Focusing on long term career and personal development
