THE EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT LEADER
Thursday 12th December 2013 - Holiday Inn, Taunton
What distinguishes great leaders from merely good ones? It isn't IQ or technical skills, says Daniel Goleman; it's emotional intelligence. It’s now 17 years since Goleman’s first book brought this topic to a wide audience across the world and since then there have been numerous research projects to evidence his claims, for example, a recent study by the Centre for Creative Leadership concluded that the primary cause of career derailment for senior leaders is a lack of emotional intelligence (EQ).
As leaders we are each born with certain levels of EQ skills. But we can strengthen and learn these skills through training, persistence, practice, and feedback from colleagues or coaches.
This highly experiential and practical master class aims to introduce participants to these critical leadership skills and its learning outcomes are:
- Learn about the concept of emotional intelligence (EQ) and the importance of EQ to leadership roles
- Identify your current level of EQ leadership skills
- Develop effective strategies for enhancing your EQ skills
- Learn the “Repertoire of Leadership” – the six styles of the emotionally intelligent leader.
- Consider how to develop your coaching style to develop EQ leadership skills in others.
This one-day master class will be delivered by Damion Wonfor, Director of The Performance Coach, and Janey Bell, a specialist coach in the area of emotional intelligence and supporting individuals to develop stronger personal impact.
This CPD master class is intended for all internal coaches currently on the NHS Leadership South West Coaching Register.
If you are a qualified coach (minimum of ILM 5 required) and not yet on the regional register, please contact email@example.com for joining instructions.
