Master Class Mini Series - Bringing Inclusion to Life
Wednesday, June 10, 2015
10:00 to 16:00
Legislation is only part of the equation in creating an equal and inclusive workplace and an equal and inclusive society. What really matters is how we bring inclusion to life through our behaviours and interactions with others and in the relationships we build.
This workshop explores the 9 protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010 and particularly how we get beyond simple legal compliance and into really living the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion day-in, day-out to the benefit of all.
During the session you’ll get to uncover and consider some of your own unconscious tripwires to inclusion – assumptions and judgements – the potential barriers your organisation throws up and develop strategies and plans for doing things differently.
- Develop your understanding of the real benefits of the 9 protected characteristics of the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda – getting beyond legal compliance
- Explore how we include and exclude subconsciously and start catching ourselves before we do so
- Begin to identify and develop ways of dismantling the organisational barriers to inclusion – exploring the influence you can bring to bear and the action you can take
Draw together insights and learning from the day into some practical approaches and actions you can take back to your workplace to make a difference
